CENTRO DE ALTO RENDIMIENTO of Sierra Nevada (C.A.R.), belonging to the Higher Sports Council – Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
The C.A.R. is located at 2320 meters (1.44 miles) above sea level, which together with its magnificent sports facilities, the environment that surrounds it, being just 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) from the coast of Granada and 125 kilometers (77.7 miles) from Malaga, makes it ideal for the practice of altitude training.
The architecture of the High Performance Center was a great challenge as it had to adopt a voluminous set of buildings to which the architects Estanislao Pérez Pita and Jerónimo Junquera opted for minimal modification of the sloping terrain and without falling into the cliché of mountain architecture.
